The Sango brand is manufactured with a `reactive glaze' technique to make each piece unique in appearance with a hand-made feel. The colours and textures of reactive glazes change from piece to piece, even for the pieces glazed and fired simultaneously with the same materials.

The finish results from a non-formulaic firing in the kiln. This means that because of the higher heat process, it cannot be predicted how the finish will end up looking. Therefore, no two pieces of reactive glaze dinnerware are identical.
